Reconstruction of the Port of Šventoji
 Šventoji is a lovely resort town and an old fishermen's settlement, situated 35 km north of Klaipëda. Until the 18th century the port of Šventoji was a strong competitor for then existing ports of the Baltic Sea. However, presently the poor state of Šventoji port requires fundamental reconstruction.
The reconstructed port will serve small pleasure boats and yachts; in this way it will enhance tourism development in Šventoji. The port will primarily be used for local fishermen; however it will also serve specialized rescue, oil spillage containment, fire fighting, marine environment, fish breeding, and coastal guard boats. In 2010 Action Plan for the Implementation of the Reconstruction Programme of the Port of Šventoji was renewed and approved by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania.
During the first stage of the rehabilitation of the main functions of the port, about 80 berthing places for the ships are going to be installed by 15th June this year. About 35 small pleasure and fishing ships to 10 m length will have the opportunity to stay at the Eastern Quay and about 45 ships to 12 m length in the Western part of the port.
State Enterprise Klaipëda State Seaport Authority is authorized by the Law of State Seaport of Šventoji to manage and perform all the required functions for the Port of Šventoji operates and attracts yachts, pleasure and fishing boats as well as tourists. Depth of the Šventoji Port navigational channel will be to - 3 m, and from - 2,5 m to - 2 m depth at the quays. Both cleaning works of the port channel and construction of floating quays are to be financed by State Enterprise Klaipëda State Seaport Authority own funds.
In May 2010 the company of Spanish Engineers "Alatec" performed feasibility study of the alternatives for the restoration of the main functions of the Port.
APPROVED OPTION 2-B :645 metres length southern breakwater, 494 units of berthing places, value of the project 53.346.868 EUR. The detailed territory plan is to be prepared by March 2012, technical design is to be ready by the very the end of the year 2012 and the construction works of the expected to be financed from EU funds project are to be started in the year 2013 and finalized in 2016. The majority of preparatory works, the technical project, construction of the infrastructure and piers, dredging of the port waters, and reconstruction of the existing quays is expected to be financed from the EU structural funds.
Anyway, feel free to come to Šventoji Port by your yacht, boat or by any other means and get experienced a very fine sand of the Baltic Sea beach as well as hospitality of the Lithuanian people.
